JAAA 2010 COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Program Overview:

The Jacksonville Asian American Alliance (JAAA) College Scholarship Program recognizes academic excellence and community involvement among high school seniors planning to pursue a traditional baccalaureate degree at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States in 2010. This year, the Program will choose four scholars who will be awarded $500 each towards college costs. Asians and non-Asians are eligible to apply.

Eligibility:

1. Must be a resident of Duval, Clay, Nassau, Baker, and St. Johns Counties for at least a year.
2. Must be accepted at a four-year college or university.
3. GPA of 3.5 or higher.
4. Must have outstanding record of community service.

Requirements:

1. Complete and submit Application Form.
2. Submit letter of acceptance to a four-year college or university.
3. Submit a letter of recommendation from a person who is familiar with applicant’s character and achievement

Deadline for Submitting Applications:

March 1, 2010 (must be postmarked by 3/1/10 to be considered)

The Jacksonville Asian American Alliance (JAAA) announced the top four (4) scholars and awarded $1000 each towards college costs. Seventeen finalists competed for top honors recognizing their academic excellence and community involvement. The finalists were XiangKun Cao, Pauline Celestial, Cen Deng, Vernon Fowler, Jamal Grimes, Adrienne Gonzalez, Wesley Hong, Florence Kuo, Angela Le, Diana Lui, Yelena Melibayeua, Paola Padilla, Abi Jireh Paraon, Marshall Rivers, Chloe Seigler, Julia Simeone, and Loan Tran.
