2008 Relief for China and Myanmar

On May 2, 2008, Cyclone Nargis, the largest natural disaster since the Asian tsunami of 2004, hit Myanmar. The United Nations estimates as many as 130,000 people may have died from the devastating cyclone.

On May 12, 2008, a powerful earthquake measuring 7.9 on the Richter scale struck Sichuan province in southwestern China, killing more than 60,000 people.

Those who managed to survive the storm and earthquake are still at risk due to lack of food, clean water, and medical supplies.

The Jacksonville Asian American Alliance (JAAA), is a nonprofit organization and duly qualified by the IRS as a charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
